We’re excited to be collaborating with the 25th, 33rd, 40th, and 47th ward offices on the first ever Youth Organizing Institute. We have been incredibly moved to see the level of engagement in young people during the recent crises that have impacted our communities and their futures.
We invite all of our passionate and outspoken young people, grades 8th-12th, to participate in this free summer-long program which allows students to learn core organizing skills and put their ideas to action.
About the Program
Every other week from June 9 through August 4, high school students will attend online workshops hosted by Chicago-based professional organizers to learn how to design their own campaigns and advocate around issues of their choice.
Based on their interests, students will be matched into groups in order and tasked with designing a proposal for an issue-based campaign. The groups will present their ideas to elected officials and receive feedback on next steps.
