July 4th

Dear community,

This weekend many of our neighbors will be celebrating the 4th of July holiday. In the wake of the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe vs Wade, the attacks on our trans and immigrant communities, the racism that continues to threaten Black lives, the neglect to recognize the humanity, sovereignty of First Nations and so many more reasons, I want to invite everyone to reflect on what freedom means to us as communities and who is actually free in this country.

This is such an important moment in history and I believe that it’s crucial for us to become active participants in organizing the resistance and the fight to ensure that freedom is a shared condition and that it is for all of us and not just a few.

I also want to remind all of our neighbors that we share space in this community and that fireworks can be very harmful and triggering to many of us, especially our veterans. Let’s make sure that we can all enjoy this time by being mindful of how what we enjoy can have a negative impact on others.

I deeply believe that together we can resist, survive and transform anything and I count on all of you to create a society where the humanity of each and all of us is honored and respected equally. Have a great holiday weekend.

Note:

*Our office will be closed for the day.
*If your garbage is typically picked up on Mondays, it will be picked up on Tuesday. If your pickup day is Tuesday, workers will pick up your garbage on Tuesday/Wednesday.
