Get Involved!
Neighbor participation is key to create strong communities. If you are passionate about public service and community engagement our office has various opportunities to volunteer. Read below about our various initiatives and ways that you can plug in.
Participatory Budgeting
Every year, each Alderman receives $1.5 million that can be used to bring infrastructure improvements to public property in the ward. This source of funding is used to repave streets, resurface alleys, create bike lanes, and other infrastructure projects.
Participatory Budgeting is the community-led process the 33rd Ward uses to give residents the power to decide how to spend $1 million toward improving their neighborhoods.
Be part of the PB Committee or a community representative.
Community Wellness and Safety
Our office is committed to addressing the root causes of violence and to creating sustainable community responses so our community members can thrive and feel safe. There are many ways that residents can participate in the 33rd Ward Community Safety Initiative. From planning summer events, participating in block clubs, and collaborating with local organizations in raising funds to bring more violence prevention resources to our ward.
Community Driven Zoning and Development (CDZD)
Through our Community Driven Zoning and Development ensures that decision-making around zoning changes includes the input of our residents and encourage the sharing of important information, such as size, use, density, and affordability.
