Big THANK YOU to our incredible Participatory Budgeting Committee! This year was a hard year for our PB committee, as I am sure you can all imagine. What was previously a very engaged, hands-on process, became a 100% virtual process. We want to thank the volunteers that form our PB Committee for their commitment to building community with us. We are ecstatic to share that despite having an exclusively virtual process, we were still able to get 876 votes from 33rd Ward residents. Lighting will enable the community to make greater use of these popular courts during park hours. 2020 Participatory Budgeting Results

Our participatory budgeting process asked residents two questions: What percentage of our total menu funding should to go street repairs, and Which projects residents would like to see funded with the remaining money. As a result of the vote, 50 percent of menu funding--a total of about $500,000--will go towards street and alley repaving. The Department of Transportation makes the ultimate determination of which streets are priorities. (NB: Currently, aldermanic menu funds are the only funds available for street/alley resurfacing.
